Arrival Tips for Families With Kids in Korea

Mr. Gonow Updated Jun 2026 3 min read

Families arriving in Korea should choose the simplest first-day route, not the most adventurous one. After a long flight, a direct airport bus or taxi can be worth it if it prevents multiple transfers with children, strollers, and suitcases.

Quick Answer

Before flying, prepare each child’s documents, snacks, medicine, extra clothes, and arrival form requirements. After landing, connect your phone, use bathrooms before leaving the airport, choose the easiest transfer, and keep the first day light.

Documents for Children

Each child needs their own valid travel document. Depending on nationality and current rules, children may also need entry forms or authorization. VisitKorea notes that for e-Arrival Card submission, visitors under 14 need a family member or another person to complete the declaration on their behalf.

Keep family documents together but not buried. Airline check-in and immigration can move faster when one adult knows where every passport and confirmation is.

Carry-On Essentials

Pack:

  • Snacks
  • Empty water bottle
  • Wipes
  • Extra clothes
  • Child medication
  • Small entertainment
  • Chargers
  • Diapers or hygiene items
  • Comfort item
  • Light jacket

Do not pack all child essentials in checked baggage. If luggage is delayed, the first night becomes much harder.

Choosing Airport Transport

For families, fewer transfers usually beats lower cost. A route with stairs, station transfers, and long walks can be exhausting. Airport buses are often comfortable if they stop near the hotel. Taxis or larger vans may be best for late-night arrivals or multiple suitcases.

Check child seats if you require them. Availability may differ from your home country, and taxis may not automatically provide them.

Strollers and Station Access

Korea’s major transport system is strong, but stroller travel varies by station and neighborhood. Elevators exist in many places, but the route to them may be long. Some older stations or markets are difficult with large strollers.

A lightweight foldable stroller plus a baby carrier can be a flexible combination.

First-Day Schedule

Do not schedule a palace, market, and night view on arrival day. Choose one gentle activity near the accommodation, or simply eat, shower, and rest.

Children adjust better when the first day includes food, sleep, and familiar pacing. Korea will still be there tomorrow.
